We are looking to hire a Cost Accountant to join our Finance Team. The right incumbent will handle cost accounting and general accounting duties and support the team on the of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
He / She will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, and the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, analyzing and distributing reports. The role reports to Plant Accounting & Costing Manager and is based in Xanthi, Greece.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

Assists in the interpretation of financial results and make recommendations on cost reduction and profit improvement actions

Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and forecast

Ensures the accuracy of reporting tools (mainly SAP/BW) and suggests the implementation of improvements according to best practices

Participates in the implementation of processes improvement projects

Tracks KPIs and prepares financial reports as requested

Supports the financial analysis process by gathering data from various data sources and tools (MS Excel, Power BI) and proceeds with the development of advanced reporting analysis

Cooperates effectively with internal teams and business partners, to gather and provide accurate financial information

Handles cost accounting activities and participate in the month-end close activities

Performs accounting entries, updates ledgers and proceeds with the reconciliation of accounts

Checks General Accounting records and ensures their correct registration

Job requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; MSc would be considered an asset

5-7 years of relevant professional accounting experience

Solid knowledge of Greek Accounting Standards; IFRS or US GAAP will be considered a plus

Proven experience of using ERP (preferably SAP)

Proficient in Microsoft office

Fluency in English (spoken and written); Knowledge of Italian is considered an advantage

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results in strict deadlines

Ability to multi-task successfully; attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Ability to travel within Sunlight’s locations
